Trick or Treat!

Wade wasn't really old enough to go trick or treating this year but we still had to dress him up and parade him to various Halloween themed events.  It was more for us than him, but hey, it made for some cute pics...

Was Wade the cutest Sock Monkey in the world or what?

We hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Halloween.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5...Oh My!

I know that I have said this a million times before, but seriously where does the time go?  How is my baby boy already 5 months old?!?  He is really starting to show his personality these days.  Wade spends his whole day laughing, yelling talking, and eating his toes.  He is just so much fun right now and I thank God daily that He blessed us with such a wonderful, sweet baby.

Wade is trying so hard to sit up on his own and hates to lay down for long periods of time (especially to get his diaper or clothes changed).  He has started doing what we have termed the "banana" which is when he tries to sit up while laying on his back. While, it doesn't get him to the sitting position, it definitely gives him a good ab workout.  He also started rolling over from his stomach to his back a couple of weeks ago.  I guess that means our days of freedom when we could just lay him anywhere are now limited.

Even though he is going to be truly mobile before we know it, I am truly enjoying this age so much.  I have been told that it only gets so much better and more fun.  I just don't know how but I am anxious to see if that is true...

He Likes it, He Likes It!!!

Remember this commercial?
We recently gave Wade rice cereal and all I could think about was Mikey in the Chex cereal commercial. I was shocked at how much he gobbled it up. I thought for sure he would have a hard time and make horrible faces while trying to choke it down. The only problem he seemed to have was the fact that I couldn't feed it to him fast enough. Just one more trait the little man got from his Mamma.
It was messy but oh so fun. Just one more milestone behind us...

What? Do I have something on my face?

Take My Advice...

Baby Jackson,

Welcome to the world, little cousin.  We are so glad you finally made your entrance on 10/9/10.  And, what an entrance it was.  You had the whole family, me included, scrambling to the hospital in the middle of the night.  Noone wanted to miss the big announcement of your birth at 3:24.a.m.!

You and I are going to have so much fun playing together.  I can't wait to wrestle with you but you're going to have to bulk up a little before we can.  You may be tall at 19.5 inches, but at 6 pounds 4 ounces, you are SKINNY!  So, make sure your parents are feeding you a lot.

Speaking of your parents, you are blessed with two of the best.  My Aunt BB and Uncle J-Dog are so fun and they are going to love you so so much.  No I'm going to tell you something they probably don't want me to...

Here's the deal. You cry, they'll do whatever you want. They'll make idiots of themselves to make you laugh. It's actually pretty funny. Oh and make sure you wake them up a couple times every night. Just to keep em on their toes.

I have so much more I can't wait to teach you.  Until our fist playdate...

Cousin Wade

PS...Let's see that this doesn't happen too often.  Deal?

Saying Goodbye.

It is official.  I am no longer a convertible driver.  I knew this day was coming but that didn't make it any easier to say goodbye to the little, red sports car I have been tooling around in the last couple of years.

However, I can't be too sad to see it go.  The new owner is a nice lady who is going to treat it well and really enjoy driving it.  It doesn't hurt that I will still get to drive it occasionally.  How, you ask?  Well, meet the new owner...

Yep, that's my mom.  She bought it from us and drove it back to AR this past weekend.  I talked to her earlier today and she was on her way to pick up my niece from Mother's Day Out because Ava explained that she wanted to be picked up from school today in "the red car".  So, it sounds like the whole AR clan is going to enjoy my fun little car. (sorry, guess it's not mine anymore)

So, how am I going to be getting around from now on?  In my mom-vertible as Chris calls it.
It has a really cool sunroof that opens almost the whole length of the car.  It is the closest thing I can drive to a convertible and still be able to tote my little man around town.  I guess this is just one of the many changes you have to make when children enter your lives.

Family Fun Night at the Fair

Last week we took my mom and Wade to the TX State Fair. It was the first visit for both of them.  It was so much fun and we ate so much fried junk we were lucky we didn't make ourselves sick.  What else are you supposed to do when there are Corny Dogs and Tater Tornados at every turn?!?  We also tried the fried frito pie (yummy) and fried beer (YUCK!!).  Like I said, we ate a LOT of fried junk...

Since the DART now goes right to the fair's front entrance, we decided to try it and give my mom a real big city adventure.  In doing this, we made our son a local star...

How cool is that?  We were interviewed about our thoughts of DART and whether we thought the TX/OU game fans would have the same problems getting to the game that they did last year.  Of course, even though he didn't really have an opinion on the matter, they had to put Wade in the video too.

After such an exctitng ride, we got to the fair and enjoyed the car show, Midway, rides, and like I mentioned before, food. I think Wade's favorite part were all the lights.  Especially getting to look at them from the Sky Way that travels over the entire lenght of the Midway.

He was totally mesmerized by the experience and it was so fun to watch his eyes get real big watching everything.  How fun is it to experience things through your kids?  It makes me so excited for things to come...

4 Months, Already??

I know my last post was Wade's three month update but, as usual, I haven't posted anything for a few weeks and it is already time to share his fourth month with the world.  Last week we had his four month doc visit and were given a clean bill of health.  Our "little" boy, if you can call him that, is still happily residing in the 90-95% for his height and weight.  He is now 15 lbs, 11 ozs and 26.5" long.  He is going to be big and tall, just like his dad.  There are no teeth coming in yet, but we were also told that rice cereal can be started anytime.  That should be a fun new experience for us all.

I know I am starting to sound like a broken record month after month, but we continue to be blessed with the sweetest, happiest baby on earth.  Wade is still all smiles and now even laughs out loud when you tickle his belly or sides.  It is so sweet to hear his giggles.

Thank you, Wade, for bringing so much joy into our lives the last four months.  What was life like before you were here?  Heck, if I remember.

Happy four months sweet baby!

The Third Months a Charm

I know that I am a little bit late in posting this one as Wade is now halfway through his third month, but better late than never, right?

These last few weeks with Wade have been so so much fun.  He is just developing the best personality and is still the happiest baby in the world.  There are so few times that he gets upset during the day and usually if we feed him or put him down for a nap his world (and ours) goes back to its happy 'ole standard pretty quickly.

Since we didn't have a doctor's appointment this month, I have no idea what his stats are as far as weight and length.  I do know that right now most 3 month clothes are too small.  For the most part we are putting our little guy in 3-6 or 6 month outfits so I don't think he is missing out on too many meals.  One of the hardest things about him growing so quickly is having to pack up the clothes that don't fit him anymore.  How is it possible that I have given away what feels like a ton of stuff to friends and family and I still have bags of clothes that Wade can't wear.  It is just so sad to think that he will NEVER wear them again.  It just doesn't seem like he has been around long enough to be outgrowing so many things.

Wade is also getting so good at grabbing his toys, burp cloths, our fingers or anything else within his reach.  And whatever it is he manages to get in his little hands immediately goes directly into his mouth! Sometimes I cringe at what he is chewing on thinking that can't taste or feel good to him but it never seems to phase him.  There is also an incredible amount of drool that seems to constantly be streaming from his mouth.  And again, I think sitting all day with a soaking wet shirt can't be comfortable, but what can I do?  I can't change his clothes 13 times a day just so he stays dry.

We haven't seen any rolling over yet but Wade is getting good at grabbing his toes, rolling into a ball and hurling himself onto his side.  I guess you could say he is halfway there.  I think Chris would like to see him reach this milestone, but I keep reminding him that once that starts, there is no going back.  Our lives will be very different with Wade when that finally happens.  We will no longer have the freedom to lay him wherever we want and know that he will stay right where we left him.  So, for that reason, I can wait a little longer for the good times to roll.

To wrap this up I will leave you with a couple pics of the little man during his third month...

You talkin' to me?

Holding his head up.  Such a strong boy!
Happy 3 months sweet baby!

Are You Ready For Some Football?!?

It is finally September.  That means fall, cooler temperatures, kids going back to school and best of all FOOTBALL!  Here in the Wyatt house, we are huge fans of this great American sport.  In our household it is still matter of debate which is better...college or pro.  Either way, the only thing our TVs are tuned into on Saturdays and Sundays this time of year is sports and the myriad of games available for viewing.

Be it The Cowboys, Baylor or Arkansas, starting tomorrow we will be loyally cheering on our favorite team.  This year we will also have great fun grooming our newest addition to be their next biggest fan.  Which do you think he'll say first:  WOOO PIG SOOOIE! or SIC'EM BEARS!...

TGIF

Well, I guess all good things do come to an end. I am once again looking forward to Fridays as I am now back amongst the working world. The last 12 weeks went by way to quickly and my maternity leave was officially over on Wednesday.  Although I was seriously dreading the day I had to return to work, it didn't turn out to be as awful as I had imagined and obviously we all survived.  What can I say, we are blessed with the easiest, most flexible baby on the planet and the most generous family in the world.  I am not saying it isn't hard to leave this cutie every morning...

...but knowing that that he is with family everyday instead of strangers at a daycare gives me so much peace of mind.  We are so lucky that my MIL and even my mom have decided to watch him the majority of the time.  In fact, my mom is coming into town this weekend to keep him for at least the next week if not longer.  As for Wade, it is like he knew that life would be changing.  He has just in the last few days started sleeping all night until 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning which works out perfectly for my schedule.  Like I said before, God's works are miraculous and we are so blessed.  I will just continue to pray that life will remain as wonderful and easy for our little famliy.  In the meantime, I'll just have to learn to cope with being away from my sweet boy for 40 hours a week.

I've Been Slacking

Not on posting, but writing a specific post.  I shared Wade's two month update on what is going on with him however, I have not posted any pictures of him during his last month.  And, while I really, really enjoy people reading about what is going on in our lives, I started this blog as a family journal of sorts.  That means I am selfishly using this forum as a way to document our life with our precious little boy solely for my enjoyment hopefully years from now.  So without further ado, here is our Sweet Wade in his second month...

As you can see, he is changing daily.  He is also growing like a weed.  At his two month appointment with the doctor, he weighed 13 lbs 2 ozs and was 24 inches long.  Not only is it fun to watch him change physically, it has been a blast to watch his personality start to develop.  Wade is such a laid-back, happy baby and we are so blessed to have him in our lives.

Oh My!

This past weekend Wade and I packed up and went to spend a few days in Fayetteville. I wanted to go up there once more before my maternity leave was over and I am so glad we went because it was such a great time.  I always feel like when we take a trip to Arkansas, it is for an event and we end up spending the entire time running at 90 miles an hour to fit everything in.  And while we didn't do a whole lot of sitting around, this was a much more relaxed trip. We got to see all our family and several friends while we were there, eat at some of my favorite restaurants that I have not been to in a while and even got several home-cooked meals, which I NEVER get the chance to enjoy.

While I was there I saw one of the funniest things ever...

That is my mom's dog.  She may not look that funny to everyone else, but for those of you who know China, it is hilarious.  While this picture makes her look like a young puppy, she is 16 years old and usually covered in an extremely full coat of hair.  I never knew how skinny she was under all that fur.  To add insult to injury, she is almost completely blind and losing her hearing.  She also has never been able to bark beacuse the previous owner had her vocal cords clipped which I think is so cruel.  That means she is literally deaf, dumb and blind and now has no hair!  In my mom's defense, she didn't have this done on purpose, this is how China looked when she picked her up from the groomer.  She was as surprised as the rest of us to see what her dog looks like.

Oh well, it is just hair and like I woiuld tell any girl who has gotten a bad haircut, it will grow back out.  Regardless, it does not make her any less sweet...

Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!

I can't believe it but Wade turned two months old today.  Everyone told me before he was born to cherish every minute because it would go by so fast and even though it saddens me to admit it, they were right.  It feels like just last week, we were checking into the hospital to welcome our little miracle into this world.  However, somehow, the last eight weeks have come and gone in a blink of an eye.  Gone is our cuddly, sleepy newborn and in his place is the most sweet and loving baby that is so active and busy.  He is also showing signs of the most adorable personality.  He smiles and coos all day long which melts my heart every time.

Wade is also starting to create sounds that resemble more than grunts and his favorite "word" at the moment is "Ah-goo" (To which his dad tells me that he also likes Ragu).  It is so much fun to sit and have our version of a conversation.

One of his favorite past-times is playing on his activity mat and working on his motor skills as he is so determined to grab the toys and rattles that hang from it. It was about a week ago that we noticed he was actually purposefully hitting them instead of just wildly swinging his arms uncontrollably.  While his fingers are still uncooperative and he is unable to grasp anything on his own, his actions seem to be much more deliberate as he reaches for his toys.

Another thing he is working on at the moment is trying to get his thumb in his mouth.  As for now, Wade is putting his entire fist in  his mouth but you can tell it will only be a matter of days until we will have a thumb-sucker on our hands. He just has to figure out how to separate his thumb from the rest of the fist and stick it out hitch-hiker style.  I can just see the orthodontist bills piling up in the future but for now it is so cute to watch him and his determination.

While I do miss my newborn baby, it has been so much fun to watch Wade grow and change over the last few weeks.  I am so excited to see what the future will bring and the fun that I know I am going to have with my sweet boy.

Am I Cut Out For This?

Parenting, that is. Today has been my hardest day being a parent so far.  Wade had his 2 month checkup at the pediatrician and with that came SIX vaccines.  Yes, you read right.  He had to get six shots to his poor little legs today.  I was so nervous about the appointment that I drug Chris there with us.  I needed as much moral support as Wade and while I was there for my baby, Chris was there for me.  I couldn't tell you what the vaccines were for specifically, I was just nervous for my little man.   However, Wade was a real trooper.  Though he did let out a couple of duck-dying screams and his face turned the brightest shade of red I have ever seen, he is now sitting here on Chris's lap cooing and smiling and being as sweet as ever.

Now, I am just praying that we will not have to put the infant Tylenol and thermometer we bought into use (or that my sweet baby will remember this traumatic event and hate me for it in the future).  I have to admit it, I spent most of the morning and early afternoon being extra lovey and apologizing to him for what I knew was about to happen.

I guess this can just be chalked up to one of those many "I did this for your own good and it hurts me more than it will hurt you" moments...

Wade's Sip N See

The weekend before my family left for Florida, a couple of my mom's very good friends threw a Sip N See for Wade and me.  Thank you Kathy and Marcia for hosting such a wonderful event for us.  They did such a wonderful  job.  I had such a great time showing of my little man to all our friends.  There was a great turnout to meet him and we were so blessed to receive so many adorable outfits.  Wade is going to be the best dressed kid in town until at least his first birthday.  Thank you to everybody for your generosity.  Our family is so blessed and so appreciative to have such a wonderful group of friends.

We're Home!

Well, sadly the vacation is over.  I guess you have to come back to life and reality at some point, but two weeks away is just not enough for me.  I know I am extremely blessed that I was able to take a two week vacation, but I could have spent my whole summer in Seaside.  I truly love that place and look forward to being there every year.

Not only do I get to spend time on the beach relaxing in the sun, I get to share it with almost my entire family including my in-laws.  I miss my family so much and don't get to see them nearly enough.  My nieces are growing up so fast and every time I am around them I am amazed at how much they have changed since I last saw them.  And now that I have a child of my own, I miss my mom more than ever.  So, this year our vacation was all the more special for me and I hated to have to leave.

Although it wasn't nearly long enough for me, my time in Seaside was wonderful.  The first week there we woke up more than once to a monsoon outside and had to run home during a rainstorm on more than one occasion.

Ava bummed about yet another rainstorm

In year's past this would have been a complete downer, but seeing as my beach time was limited  due to having a one month old baby to look after, I didn't mind so much.  It just meant that the rest of the group got to stay inside with me.  There was a lot of quality family time that took place during those raining days.

Unfortunately, due to the technological age we live in, our "quality time" looked a lot like this...

Yes, Haley is on her cell phone AND the computer.  This wasn't all we did though.  We also played cards and spent A LOT of time being entertained by the kids.

Ava and Devin dancing to Justin Beiber
Reece playing with my makeup brushes

And even though all he can do is lay there, Wade was a great source of joyful entertainment for us as well.  He really learned to smile and engage with us during the two weeks on the trip.

It wasn't all rainy days though.  As soon as the rain would let up we would pack up and RUN to the beach.

Here are some pics of the fun we had after the sun finally came out
